Description

The Spice Trade Hawaiian Pink Sea Salt, also known as Alae Salt, gets its pick color from Alaea. Alaea is a red, mineral-rich volcanic clay found in Hawaii. Hawaiian Sea Salt naturally contains a variety of minerals, including sodium, chlorine and iron, as well as low levels of calcium, zinc, potassium, magnesium, phosphorus and sulfur.

Hawaiians often refer to salt as “Pa’akai,” which has a literal translation of solidified sea water. Traditionally Hawaiians used the salt to cleanse, purify, and bless tools, canoes, homes and temples.
